vivo X500 Pro Max Goes Global: 200MP Zoom Camera, 7,800mAh Battery, from €1,599

vivo showed the X500 Pro Max in China on September 21, 2026, alongside the X500 and X500 Pro, then brought the two Pro models to Europe at a launch event on October 27, 2026. The phones are now on sale in Europe and parts of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia. India is next in line: reports point to a launch by the end of November, but vivo has not confirmed a date or an India price yet.
The camera is the whole point
The headline is the 200MP periscope telephoto. It uses a large 1/1.4-inch Samsung HP0 sensor with an 85mm-equivalent lens and 3.5x optical zoom, with ZEISS APO optics and T* coating. vivo also sells optional telephoto extender lenses and a camera kit that bundles them, which says a lot about who this phone is for.
The other two rear cameras are no afterthought. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYTIA L910 (1/1.28-inch, f/1.57) with gimbal optical stabilisation, and the ultrawide is a 50MP Samsung JN5 with autofocus, so it can shoot close-ups too. A 50MP front camera rounds out the set. Two dedicated imaging chips, the VS1 and V3+, handle processing, and video runs to 4K 240fps HDR and 4K 120fps Log.
Early reviews single out the telephoto. Android Authority calls it the star of the show, with clean shots at 3.5x and 7x zoom and strong portraits. That is the claim to test before you buy: a big sensor and a long lens only earn their price if the results hold up in low light and at full zoom.
A big battery, with a catch by market
The global model packs a 7,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery, up from 6,510 mAh on the phone it replaces. But the size changes by market, and the gap is not small: the European version gets 6,750 mAh, while the China version gets 8,000 mAh. Check which version your seller stocks before you buy, because the battery is one of the main reasons to pick this phone.
Charging is 90W wired and 40W wireless, with reverse wireless and reverse wired charging on top. 90W is a step behind the 100W-plus charging on some rivals, but with a battery this size the phone should still last two days for most people.
Screen and chip
The 6.85-inch LTPO AMOLED screen runs at 1440 x 3168 (2K) with a refresh rate up to 144Hz, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Peak brightness reaches 4,400 nits, and the panel shows 1.07 billion colours. Inside is MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro, built on a 2nm process, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
The body is glass and aluminium, 163.3 x 76.8 x 8.1 mm, and it weighs 225 g in Moonlit Black or 229 g in the other colours. It carries IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance. It runs OriginOS 7 based on Android 17, with up to five major OS updates promised. Colours are Moonlit Black, Starry Gray, Sunny White and Sunset Orange, and the big circular camera module with its metal ring dominates the back.

vivo X500 Pro Max price
| Version | Europe price | About in USD |
|---|---|---|
| 12GB + 256GB | €1,599 | about $1,780 |
| 12GB + 512GB | €1,799 | about $2,000 |
| 12GB + 1TB | €2,199 | about $2,450 |
European prices include VAT. In China the phone starts at CNY 6,999, roughly $990, which shows how much of the European price is tax and regional markup. Launch offers in Europe run until November 30, 2026. The phone is not sold in the US.
Who should buy it, and who should wait
Buy it if zoom photography is your top priority and you want a battery that lasts two days. The 200MP telephoto, the big sensor main camera and the 7,800 mAh battery are a rare combination, and the 2K 144Hz screen and 2nm chip leave little to complain about on paper.
Wait if the price stings. At €1,599 the base model costs more than last year's flagship, and the 1TB version at €2,199 is hard to justify when the 16GB/1TB model of the previous generation now sells for less. Wait too if you are in India: the local launch and price are still unannounced, and the India version may differ in battery size. And if you want a phone you can hold one-handed for hours, look elsewhere: at 225-229 g with a 6.85-inch screen, this one is big and heavy by design.
We have not tested this phone ourselves. This article is based on the maker's published details and public listings checked on November 5, 2026. Specs and prices can change, so check the seller before you buy.
