Motorola Signature 27 Launches at $1,600: 200MP Zoom, 7,000mAh Battery and a 12,000-Nit Screen

Motorola took the full wraps off the Signature 27 on November 5, 2026, after first showing it at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit on September 22. The phone is Motorola's most expensive slab phone so far, and the spec sheet explains why: a 200MP periscope camera, a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, a screen Motorola rates at 12,000 nits, and seven years of software updates.
The camera puts the biggest sensor behind the zoom
The telephoto is the headliner. It is a 200MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, and Motorola's Super Zoom Pro stretches it to 100x with AI help. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYTIA L910 with an f/1.6 aperture, optical stabilization and LOFIC technology for cleaner video in hard light. A 50MP ultrawide covers 122 degrees and focuses down to 2.5 cm for macro shots, and the 50MP front camera records 4K video.
The unusual part is the fourth sensor. Motorola added a dedicated EVS action sensor, which it says is the first of its kind in a phone, to freeze fast-moving subjects with its Action Shot mode. The whole system carries a DXOMARK Gold Label, with an overall camera score of 173 — the highest the lab has given any phone launched in 2026. Lab scores are not test results, and the camera still has to prove itself against Samsung and Google at this price. Video runs to 8K at 30fps and 4K at up to 120fps with Dolby Vision.
A screen rated at 12,000 nits
The 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo is a tandem OLED panel — two emissive layers stacked in one screen — with a 1.5K resolution of 2,772 x 1,272 and a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola rates peak brightness at 12,000 nits, measured at 1% average pixel level, which would make it the brightest phone screen shipping today. The panel also carries Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Pantone Validated colour, and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protects it. Motorola says the tandem design uses up to 34% less energy and lasts up to 121% longer than a standard AMOLED panel.
Battery, chip and the long software promise
The 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery is 35% larger than the one in the original Signature. Motorola rates it for up to 77 hours of mixed use and 47 hours of video playback. Wired charging runs at 90W TurboPower and wireless at 50W, with 5W reverse wireless and 4.5W reverse wired on top. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 runs the phone, cooled by Motorola's ArcticMesh system with micro-diamond thermal gel. It ships with Android 17 and seven years of OS and security updates. It is also the first Motorola built to support GrapheneOS, the privacy-hardened open-source system, and the first with ARM Memory Tagging Extension hardware.
The body is an aluminum frame with a ceramic camera plane, in two PANTONE finishes: Coal Smoke, a black tactical weave, and Capulet Olive, a green textile-style finish. It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings plus MIL-STD-810H durability testing, and measures 162.01 x 77.04 x 7.99 mm at 227 g. Audio comes from Bang & Olufsen speakers with Dolby Atmos, and connectivity includes Wi-Fi 8.

Preorders open November 19 at Motorola.com, Amazon and Best Buy in the US, with open sales from November 26, 2026. Orders from Motorola's own store during the launch window include the Moto Watch Ultra at no extra cost, plus a free year of MotoCare coverage. India pricing and a launch date are still unconfirmed.
Who should buy it, and who should wait
Buy it if you want flagship hardware with a long hold in mind. The seven-year update promise, the 7,000 mAh battery and the 12,000-nit screen are the parts no rival at this price matches together, and the GrapheneOS option is something no other mainstream flagship offers.
Wait if camera consistency decides your purchases. The 200MP zoom and the DXOMARK score of 173 look strong on paper, but no independent hands-on test has checked them yet against the Galaxy S26 Ultra or the Pixel 11. At $1,599.99, Motorola is asking Ultra money on the strength of a spec sheet. Wait for tested camera results before spending it, and check the India price if you are buying there — it is still unannounced.
We have not tested this phone ourselves. This article is based on the maker's published details and public listings checked on November 6, 2026. Specs and prices can change, so check the seller before you buy.
